Discover for yourself how incredible Robertson Charter School is. Bishop Livingston is President and CEO. He has a B.Min. from Masters Divinity School and a M.A. from Masters Graduate School of Divinity. He is the senior pastor of Life Changers Church (Decatur, IL) and the founder of Life Changers International Ministries. Bishop Livingston is the Assistant Presiding Bishop for the United Covenant Churches of Christ Worldwide. He has served as; President of Macon Resources, Inc., President of the Decatur Boys and Girls Club, Chairman of the Decatur Civil Service Committee, President of the Decatur Community Development Fund, Chairman of the Decatur City Plan Commission, Director and Committee Chair for the Community Investment Corporation of Decatur, Chairman of the Board of the Minority Business Network, Member of the Education Coalition, Member of the Macon County Juvenile Justice Council, and Chairman of the Coalition on Human Rights. He speaks around the world on economic empowerment and leadership development.

We would like to thank you for the opportunity to work with you and your child this year. We are truly excited about this school year and the great things planned for our students. As you know, it is important for our students to follow the rules in the classroom as well as on the bus. Having rules and ensuring that students are following them helps to keep our students safe as well as maximizes learning in the classroom. It is our intent to help your student become the best that they can be. In order for that to happen, we will need you to work with me on any discipline issues that may arise. Parent involvement is a key factor in student success, and it is our goal to have all of our students become successful in all that they strive to do. She has a B.A. from Millikin University, and a B.S. from U of I at Springfield . She has a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Eastern Illinois University. She has 6 years of teaching experience. Prior to teaching, she served as both a Substitute Teacher and a Teaching Assistant here at Robertson.

Ms. Pender has been with Robertson Charter School since 2010.  She graduated from Millikin University, earning two Bachelor’s Degrees in Elementary Education and Spanish.  She has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Administration, from the University of Illinois Springfield.  She has 8 years of teaching experience which includes teaching Spanish at MacArthur High School. She is excited to be the Assistant Principal for this 2016-2017 school year. She is especially eager to help all students be successful academically.  It is truly a pleasure to be able to work with the students, parents, and staff at Robertson.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all back Robertson Charter School for the start of the 2015-16 school year. We hope that your summer was filled with lots of fun activities. If your student is enrolled at Robertson Charter School you can have the confidence in knowing that this is a school that takes fiscal management very seriously. We are good stewards of the monies that are allotted us, for this reason we are able to expand our middle school. We now have state of the art classrooms, science lab, and a gym to let us house home games. Parents, we would like to thank you for putting your trust in Robertson Charter School. We look forward to a great school year!! GO Wildcats! Mrs. Livingston has been with Robertson Charter School since 2002. She has a B.A. in Business Administration/Management. She attended both Columbia Southern University and Master's International School of Divinity. She has over 20 years’ experience in business management and human resources. She is the President of the Decatur Boys and Girls Club, has served on the board of Even Start, and was a member of the American Business Women's Association (A.B.W.A.). She is currently working on her M.Min.

Brian

Rev. Brian Hay

Chairman

Rev. Brian Hay grew up in Decatur, graduating from Stephen Decatur High School in 1982. He attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado graduating in 1997 with a Bachelor’s degree in biblical studies. After a 10 year career in retail management, Rev. Hay entered full-time pastoral ministry. He was ordained an elder in the Church of the Nazarene in 2000. He pastored the Oak Grove Church of the Nazarene in Decatur from 1997 to 2004 and currently serves as the pastor of the Auburn Church of the Nazarene in Auburn, IL. A staunch advocate of school choice and alternative education, Rev. Hay partnered with a group of community leaders to found the Robertson Charter School in Decatur, which opened in 2001. Rev. Hay has served as Vice-president of the school since its inception. Rev. Hay and his wife Tracy have four children: Tim, Alex, Andrea and Rebekah and reside in Auburn, IL. Rev. Walt

Walt Smith

Vice Chairman

Walt Smith graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1969. He then went on to earn his B.S. with and emphasis in Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. He worked as Program Director of the Boys and Girls Club from 77-80. In 1982 he became the Executive Director, and is still serving in that position today. He has served on numerous boards, commissions and was the recipient of many awards and appreciation plaques such as NAACP Decatur Branch Community Involvement Award, and Human Relations Commission Youth and Education Award. Mr. Smith is married and has four children and ten grandchildren. He joined the RCS board in 2008.

 

Mark Barthelemy

Secretary

Mark Barthelemy retired as Decatur’s Chief of Police on January 27, 2006. He was a thirty-year veteran of the Police Department. He is a native of Decatur, holds a BA from Millikin University in Sociology and he is a graduate of the 172nd session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He is married to wife, Vickie, and they have three daughters and four grandchildren. Immediately following his retirement from the police department, Mark became the human rights officer for the City of Decatur. He received, investigated and mitigated complaints of unlawful discrimination filed by city residents against employers, lenders, real estate matters, and incidents of public accommodation. He retired from that position on February 23, 2014.

 

Janet

Janet Bunch

Treasurer

Janet Bunch retired from Decatur School District #61 in 2005, after having served the district for 35 years as a teacher and high school guidance counselor. Presently, she is the Site Coordinator for the Phoenix Academy II. Ms. Bunch holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Tennessee State University in Nashville and a Master’s in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois, Springfield. She is the mother of one son and one daughter, and grandmother of seven.

 

Misty Lee

Board Member

Misty Lee formerly worked in the banking field for many years. She was previously a loan officer with Hickory Point Bank. She now works in the Insurance industry. She is an RCS parent and has been actively involved in our community for several years.

 

Tony Brown

Board Member

Tony Brown is a lifelong Decatur resident and proud graduate of Eisenhower High School, he joined the United States Army after graduating in 1986. He attended Richland Community College and he began his career with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office in an excess of 25 years and counting. Tony started his career serving as a Correctional Officer in the Macon County Jail in 1990, where he has served as the Jail Warden.  Tony has served in several capacities within the Sheriff’s Office such as Correctional Officer, Patrol Officer, Warrants, Special Response Team, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Jail Superintendent, Chief of Investigatons, and his current position as Operations Lieutenant which he is responsible for several Divisions which includes Corrections, Patrol, EMA (Emergency Management Agency), and Investigations. Tony also serves on multiple boards and committees who services assist the citizens of Macon County.
